Synopsis
DARK MATCH is a fun-filled horror film that delves into the counterculture of independent professional wrestling. The film follows Jake, a former champion who finds himself drawn back into the ring after a series of personal setbacks. Struggling with addiction and haunted by past failures, Jake’s journey becomes one of redemption as he navigates a wrestling event unlike any he’s had to work before. With its raw and visceral fight scenes, DARK MATCH not only captivates with its action but also offers a poignant look at the human spirit’s resilience.
Directed and written by Saskatchewan’s own Lowell Dean, the film features Canadian wrestling legend Chris Jericho and a host of independent western Canadian wrestlers, including Saskatoon native Mitch Clarke. DARK MATCH is a movie for fans of horror and indie wrestling, and anyone who wants to support local filmmakers.
